This stunning property in the Swan Valley, Western Australia backing onto the Swan River, presented a blank canvas for the rural landscape design. The vast, undeveloped land allowed us to curate a master plan that would be implemented in phases, aligning perfectly with the homeowners’ extensive vision for their forever home.
Strategic spatial placement of structural elements was pivotal in preserving the uninterrupted views from the residence to the river at the back of the property. Our design seamlessly integrates with the natural topography, guiding the eye beyond with thoughtfully layered outdoor features, including a swim-up bar and a firepit area. The informal off-form concrete strip steps, artfully placed within the undulating lawn, subtly direct movement through the landscape, ensuring the journey remains organic and fluid.
The planting plan for this property was extensive and meticulously researched, ensuring selections were well-suited to the local environment. The en masse planting theme is visually powerful, with tree species chosen for their ability to provide seasonal interest that were positioned with care, balancing the need for shade with the desire to maintain unobstructed views to the river. The selection includes native species, which contribute to the natural aesthetic while supporting local biodiversity.
The property’s entrance is marked by a meandering driveway, bordered by orchards that not only provide privacy from adjacent properties but also create a breathtaking vista of spring blossoms that can be experienced on the over-sized hanging daybeds under the open timber pergola.
