Project Karrakup

Karrakup, Western Australia

  • Project Description
  • This stately residence, evocative of the grandeur found in The Hamptons, Long Island, is instead gracefully situated at the foothills of Perth, Western Australia. Designed as a sanctuary from the demands of daily life, the outdoor spaces were meticulously curated to embody the essence of a luxurious home retreat.

The property’s expansive and complex terrain, marked by steep topography and significant retaining requirements, presented considerable design challenges. Our landscape design deftly resolved these issues through strategic placement and orientation of the primary structural elements, achieving both functional integrity and aesthetic cohesion. An unforeseen challenge emerged post-home construction, as the owners sought seamless access from the garage—positioned 6 meters below—to the main outdoor entertaining area. Our architectural solution, an elegant staircase paired with a viewing platform that frames the distant hills, integrates effortlessly into the design.

The pool design further amplifies the property’s connection to its surroundings, oriented to capture sweeping views and the warmth of the afternoon sun. The poolside cabana offers a secluded refuge, perfectly positioned to take in Western Australia’s spectacular sunsets. The formed concrete paving, designed in the distinctive style of The Hamptons, is complemented by a palette of green, blue, and silver from the surrounding garden, enriching the overall architectural narrative of the space.
